The Garden Club of Mount Prospect was organized in May, 1963. The club's meetings, programs and projects are designed to carry out the vision of the founding members' mission statement to "encourage interest in gardening and horticulture, artistic use of plant materials, civic beauty and conservation of natural resources." On May 9, the garden club celebrated its 60th anniversary with a luncheon attended by approximately 90 people, including Mount Prospect Mayor Paul Hoefert; Emily Dattilo, director of the Mount Prospect Historical Society; and leadership from the Garden Clubs of Illinois.
